Zonetag Continued

November 8, 2006

I think the whole idea of Zonetag is quite cool and the website I found is very helpful and clear about how to install it and get it running. This would be quite a good thing to set up if I was to include a map and geotagging system within my project. It is very simple, quick and effective for people geotagging their photos or videos and saves them time as they don’t have to go on the Internet, upload them and then go through the process of adding their location to them.

Zonetag is made by Yahoo Research Berkeley and provides a way of sending geotaged photos to Flickr via a mobile phone and a GPS unit. The site takes you through the steps to install Zonetag on your phone and to set up an account with Yahoo which you need in order to be able to use it. It then takes you though the process of connecting a GPS unit to your mobile so that when you send a photo to Flickr it is linked with the exact co-ordinates that the photo was taken.
