After weeks of searching the web and speaking to people about using Quartz Composer for my idea I have spoken to Ian and he has told me that Quartz doesn’t involve using music. He said Quartz are hoping to include this aspect within the next version that will come out on the next Apple upgrade which is Leopard. So I will now have to change my idea as a result of this.

November 6, 2006As part of my idea for the project for this module I wanted to use the music mixes that people upload to my site to manipulate the videos some way in Quartz Composer. However, I have been searching the web now for quite a while trying to find a way of doing this but I have not come across anything. The only thing I have found is how to incorporate MIDI and use this to control effects and videos, so I think I will have to change my idea slightly within the music aspect.

Quartonian
November 6, 2006I found a download on the Internet for Quartz Composer called Quartonian which is a VJing tool. I thought this might be helpful for my project. However I have downloaded it and tried it out and it is not what I want at all for my idea. This is a VJing tool that needs to be controlled while using it, when I just want Quartz to take the videos from my site and just randomly play them with effects. The Quartonian download also doesn’t involve music manipulation which is what I am hoping to include in my project.

November 5, 2006I have been reading through some blogs about Quartz, which I have found quite useful and interesting as people have posted queries, tutorials and their work and others have then left comments and feedback about these posts to answer people’s queries or just to give their view about the work. I think this is quite good because if I do have any major problems I could just post something on one of these blogs for help.

November 5, 2006As I have said I want to include Quartz Composer within my project, by using it to produce a VJ set of the videos from the library on my site and for this to be manipulated by the music mixes. I have been searching the web for tutorials on how to use Quartz which I have done to get an idea of how to use the programme. I have also been trying to find out a way of doing my idea but have not come across anything yet.
