Last Weeks Lecture

During last weeks lecture we were shown examples of database management and also operating systems web server relational database scripting language. During the lecture we were told about LAMP – LINUX, APACHE, MYSQL and PHP. I don’t have a clue about any of these but it was good to be shown and introduced to something new to get an idea of what it involves and what we can produce with them. Ian made it look very easy with what he was doing in the examples but to be honest I did get a little bit lost near the end.

Week 3: Lecture and Workshop

It was quite nice today during the lecture and workshop as most people thought they were cancelled and so the class was no so big. Ian also said he didn’t really have anything planned for today and would just go over things with us, which was really helpful. It was good today as during the workshop we all got time to speak to Ian individually about our ideas and where we are going and got some feedback and help from him to further develop our ideas and plans for our projects.

Introduction To Net.Art

We were introduced during the first lecture about net.art and this week we were shown a lot of work within this field and during this era of the 1990’s. I know this is the idea and starting point behind brief one and so I am going to buy the two books we were introduced to on Tuesday to read up about these artists and their work, to get more of an idea about it and to see if I like it enough to develop my own idea under this brief and within this type of Internet art.

Definitely Not Doing Brief 5

After the first lecture and workshop last week I was very worried because I didn’t have a clue what I was going to do for the assignments for this module, and even after this week’s I still don’t. I’m finding this a quite worrying but I am going to go through and research each brief to find out what I’m interested in. The only thing I know at the minute is that I’m definitely not doing brief 5 because the thought of MAX/MSP and other points within the brief scare me and I’m not really interested in the subjects.
