I really like the presentation of one of the Quartz Composer blogs that I have found. I think I would like for my web site to have the same sort of presentation with the black background and the white text, because I think its quite simple but effective.

I have spoken to Ian about my final idea for a project for this module and he has told me that it is possible to do, which I am pleased about. I have decided to go along with the VJ website web site resource and to also use Quartz as a VJing tool taking videos from my site because I wanted to produce a work with an offline presence as well as an online presence.
In relations ion to the William Gibson quote I have mentioned about the Internet being a waste of time, I don’t want my website to be a waste of time. I want to produce a project that is useful in some way. I feel that my idea will be useful though for VJs who the project is aimed at because I am providing a way of sharing videos for Vjing, a way of VJ’s to communicate around the world and also provide them with a Quartz file that will produce a VJ set from my site.
I am still wanting to develop the idea for my project with producing a website for VJ’s and enabling people to upload and download videos and use them in their VJ sets. I don’t just want my project to have an online presence, I want it to also have an offline presence. I am planning on doing this by enabling people to use the videos with Quartz and to VJ by using the contents of the site. Although I have decided on my idea I’m still going to research into other things in case I come up with another idea.
I want to include and use Quartz Composer in some way within my website. I want for visitors to the site to be able to click on a mix that someone has uploaded and to then be able to listen to it and watch a composition in Quartz of the videos in the sites library. I don’t actually know if this is possible yet but I am hoping to find out, one problem I think I will have is that people visiting the site who are using a PC will not be able to watch the Quartz compositions.
The idea which I’m most interested in building upon and developing is the website based around DJing and VJing. I have now furthered my idea and decided for the website to include a library of videos for people to download and use for their own VJing sets and also to enable them to upload their own to the library for others to use. Instead of people having a live feed of music into the site I’ve decided for the site to provide a way for them to upload a mix of music, which can then be played back by visitors.
I have done quite a lot of research lately into my ideas, that I added to the blog the other week, however I have only added a fraction of this to the blog and still have to post the rest of it which I will do soon. I am quite set on developing one idea already but have decided to carry on researching them all just to make sure there is nothing else I want to base my project on.
I thought about my ideas some more and have decided not to do my first idea which was to produce a website of my work for the degree show. I only really wanted to do this project to be honest as an easy way out because I hadn’t got any other ideas at the time. I would like to have something to show at the degree show on the net but I can show what ever work I produce from this module which is why I want to produce something quite cool and interesting.
The idea I have which I am most interested in is to produce a website with either virtual record decks or a means of people being able to input a live feed from their decks into the website. This music would them manipulate different videos via Quartz and be projected onto a projection screen, maybe at Uni. People would also be able to watch it live on the Internet and listen to the music. I really like this idea because I am quite interested in VJing at the moment and am working on a similar project in another Module.
