For one of my initial ideas I was looking into producing a widget of some kind that maybe involved geotagging or geocaching for my project. I still quite like the idea of producing one and then for anyone to be able to download it onto their computer and use it. However, I am really into my other idea about providing a website and resource for VJs and to make something more useful. I could however develop this idea into a widget but I think I would prefer for it to be on a website.

Google Widgets
November 9, 2006Google are now providing widgets for people to use on their desktop, the same sort of thing as Apple have with their widgets. They now enable anyone to produce one of these widgets and their site enables you to download a Google Desktop SDK which includes everything to help you produce a Google Dashboard Widget. It includes the documentation of how to do it, some sample code using various APIs and also tutorials and developer tools. So really anyone with a bit of time and patience could probably produce one.
